Therapeutic Massage

A therapeutic massage uses light to medium pressure and long fluid strokes inspired by Californian and Swedish massage.

Deep Tissue Massage

Description

This type of massage concentrates on the deeper layers of the body’s muscles and connective tissue and is excellent for stubborn “knots”.

This massage releases chronic tension in the body through slow strokes and pressure on the contracted area. If you suffer from low back pain, have sore shoulders, a stiff neck, tight hamstrings, tight IT bands, etc., this type of massage is right for you.

A Deep Tissue Massage is corrective but therapeutic as well, and should not cause excessive pain for the client. The intention is to work on the layers of the body’s soft tissues, particularly the fascia. Injury and prolonged immobility can cause fascia to become stiff, which in turn causes pain. Certain areas that carry more tension may be more uncomfortable than others; however our massage therapists will work with you to find a level of pressure that is tolerable for you.

Reflexology

Description

Reflexology has been practiced world-wide for centuries. More than 7000 nerve endings are located in the sole of each foot which are in direct relation to different regions of the body. The therapist uses her thumbs and fingers to work on the reflex zones on your feet, stimulating and soothing all the areas of your body. Using accurate grips and pressures on the different reflex areas, reflexology helps the body to recover its natural state. It regulates the functioning of the glands and the organs, enhances relaxation, increases energy, and improves overall health.

Tao Shiatsu

Description

Tao shiatsu stimulates the body to regain its natural equilibrium. Stuck or stagnated energy is released using the thumbs, hands and knees through deep rhythmic movement, assisted stretches, and specific release points.

Tao shiatsu treats the whole person, concentrating not only on the symptoms, but also on the individuals vitality and innate healing power. Treatment takes place with the receiver lying on a Japanese mattress on the floor. It is required to wear comfortable clothing and socks.

Pre-Natal massage is tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. Carrying a baby puts a lot of additional stress on the back, hips, feet, legs, and sciatic nerve. Pre-Natal massage focuses on the discomforts experienced in the changing body such as low back pain and swelling legs, and provides balance for the mother-to-be.

All therapists are professionally trained and will adjust their techniques according to each individual. A trained pre-natal massage therapist will know which areas of the body and which techniques to avoid. All products used are safe for mother and baby.
